The Black Cat Cabaret Poster email size

The Black Cat – a brand new production for the new year, from the co-creators of La Rêve.

The co-creators of Boom Boom Club and La Rêve have brought together their most exceptional band of performers yet, transforming the Titanic Ballroom of Café de Paris into a new bohemia.

Dreamed up by long-term collaborators Vicky Butterfly, Dusty Limits and David Harris, The Black Cat Cabaret draws inspiration from the absinthe-soaked heyday of Montmartre’s dark and daring cabaret underworld.

Expect a carnival of street singers and mad musicians, acrobats, dancers and illusionists, delirious comics and exotic artistes, as well as a contemporary take on belle epoque Chinese shadow plays.

The Black Cat Cabaret is a place to encounter modern performance in all its wondrous forms – from the sacred to the profane, the lyrical to the louche – with walkabout entertainment, fine dining and a spectacular and provocative stage show amidst the grandeur of London’s most historic variety venue. It’s where London’s revelers come to rub shoulders and purr, as the elusive eponymous feline watches from the shadows…

Queen of street performance and circus skills Abi Collins

Three months was all Abi Collins needed at the Royal Ballet School to launch herself into an incredibly varied performance career. Abi combines her serious dance and circus skills with an abundance of charm and humour to create something truly special in every performance. Having done her time at La Soiree, this multi-talented and incredibly flexible character comedian, circus star and queen of street performance graces the stage at La Reve this Friday to give us a hula hoop turn we’ll never forget.

Irish circus heroes the Lords of Strut

The Lords of Strut are Famous Seamus and Seantastic, renowned throughout Ireland for their thoroughly individual take on acrobatics, dance and comedy. The fraternal duo claim their inspiration from ‘the street’, broken hearts, hot salty tears and beauty products. They have a whole host of awards down their pants for their somewhat twisted (and cleverly titled) show ‘Sell Out Tour’, and this week they bring their artistic stylings to the little round stage at La Reve! And presumably, bringing the party as well.

“Destiny is written on the dance floor, and we know how to read!” – Lords of Strut

Featuring the Frisky half of Frisky and Mannish

La Reve continues its reign this Summer with a right royal treasure-chest of spectacular cabaret shenanigans, set to entertain and delight throughout the Jubilee month. Café de Paris, the hidden jewel in the crown of London’s West End is treated every week to a feast of contemporary Vaudevillian entertainment, featuring Kings and Queens of the scene such as Frisky and Mannish, Miss Polly Rae, Dusty Limits, Up and Over It and Marcel Lucont plus a high calibre coterie of fresh and upcoming talent, hand-picked to amaze and delight.

La Rêve’s brand of dinner-show draws inspiration from the forgotten opulence and glamour of days gone by. From the high-kicking antics first experienced during the Parisian belle epoque, to the lavish floorshows of 1950s Las Vegas, La Rêve has gained a reputation as the essential and authentic re-imagining of grand spectacular variety entertainment!

Top of The Chops

We agree with The Telegraph, The Skinny and Fringe Guru, it’s pretty tough to categorise this act, it’s even harder to do it justice on paper. However, with a little help from the act themselves, they sum up their act with the following:

“Self-confessed, Popmusicy-seriocomic-mashparodic-stereophonic-LOUD-vaudevillian-sketchcabaret-throwbackcurrent-oldfangled-newfashioned-bapsbotty-infotainment, Frisky and Mannish are a cabaret act like no other.”

Still confused? There’s only one thing for it, get yourselves down to La Reve this Friday and see what madness these guys get up to!

Expect an all guns blazing, fast and furious cabaret set that includes a whole lot of pop music and laughs this Friday at La Reve!
